Restoration of Jamaican Citizenship

The restoration of Jamaican Citizenship is applicable only to former Jamaican nationals who acquired Jamaican Citizenship by virtue of birth, descent or adoption and subsequently renounced it.

 

The Procedure

The applicant must complete the Restoration of Citizenship Form R5 in triplicate and sign in the presence of a Notary Public, Commissioner of Oaths or a Consular Officer at the Jamaican High Commission in Ottawa or the Consulate General of Jamaica in Toronto.

 

The application must be submitted along with the following originaldocuments:

 

·        Letter of renunciation

·        Proof of current citizenship

·        Valid ID of applicant

·        Two (2) certified passports sized photographs of the applicant, taken not more than 6 months prior to the application.  The photographs can be certified by a Notary Public, a Commissioner of Oaths or Consular Officer at the Jamaican High Commission in Ottawa or the Consulate General of Jamaica in Toronto.

 

Processing Fee: CAD $1,100.00.

 

Compliant applications will be prepared for submission within twenty four (24) months.
